At the adoption of the Paris Agreement in 2015, parties agreed to convene a facilitative dialogue in 2018 to take stock of collective efforts towards the long-term goal as established in Article 4 of that Agreement. This dialogue is now known as the Talanoa Dialogue, which commenced at the start of 2018 and which will culminate at COP24 (December 2018). As part of this process, all actors have been invited to make submissions on how the long-term goals of the Paris Agreement can be achieved.
As aviation is a major emitter, and as the Paris Agreement calls for economy-wide emission reductions, ICSA and Climate Action Network (CAN) have produced this joint submission for the Talanoa Dialogue.
